chris-large-colourDr. Christopher Clulow is Consultant Couple Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist and Senior Fellow at Tavistock Relationships.  He served as Director of the Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships  from 1987 until 2006, during which time, and subsequently, he has been a Visiting Lecturer at the Tavistock Clinic.  He is a Fellow of the Centre for Social Policy at Dartington and President of Central and North Hertfordshire Relate.

Between 1986 to 1994, he chaired the Commission on Marriage and Interpersonal Relations of the International Union of Family Organisations.  As well as management and group relations experience he has taught extensively in the United Kingdom and overseas, designed training courses for front-line mental health practitioners, and has acted as external examiner for clinical training programmes. He serves on the Editorial Board of Couple and Family Psychoanalysis and Sexual and Relationship Therapy, and is Series Co-Editor of “The Library of Couple and Family Psychoanalysis”.

His extensive publications on transitions in marriage, divorce, parenthood, and couple psychotherapy include Adult Attachment and Couple Psychotherapy:  The ‘Secure Base’ in Practice and Research, published by Brunner-Routledge, and Sex, Attachment and Couple Psychotherapy:  Psychoanalytic Perspectives, published by Karnac Books, and Couple Therapy for Depression:  A Clinician’s Guide to Integrative Practice, published by Oxford University Press.  He is registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council and maintains a practice in both London and in his home town of St. Albans.
