Dr. Sarah Wynick is Consultant Child Psychiatrist at the Tavistock Centre in London, where she had previously trained and where she has worked for most of the last two decades.  She is Head of Psychiatry for the Tavistock and Portman N.H.S. Trust.  She has also managed three in-patient family and adolescent units (at the Cassel Hospital, at Simmons House, and at the Beacon).

She trained in psychotherapy with children and adolescents at the Tavistock Clinic and now runs the United Kingdom’s only course for child psychiatrists in psychodynamic psychotherapy – the M14 course – accredited by the British Psychoanalytic Council.  She has a long-held interest in working with trauma and with refugees and asylum seekers, and she is an experienced EMDR (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing) practitioner who uses trauma-focused techniques in her work, alongside her psychoanalytical framework.

She also qualified as a couple psychoanalytic psychotherapist from the Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships.  She has a further interest in group psychotherapy, in family work, and in organisational consultancy, and she has served on the staff of the Tavistock Group Relations Conferences for fifteen years and now directs one of the main Tavistock Group Relations Conferences each spring.  She has recently trained in the “Parents as Partners” model and runs groups for parental couples.

She is registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council and maintains a clinical practice in Belsize Park, North London.
