Many people wish to meet with a psychotherapist in complete privacy – without any other family members present. We refer to this type of therapy as “individual psychotherapy” or “one-to-one psychotherapy”.
Individual psychotherapy provides a unique opportunity to talk about any anxieties, concerns, dissatisfactions, symptoms, or traumas in complete privacy.
Individual therapy can assist with a wide range of difficulties, providing a sense of relief and a renewed sense of hope and possibility for life.
Some people embark upon one-to-one psychotherapy in order to seek help with a particular problem or symptom; whereas others wish to explore their lives more fully and more comprehensively in the hope of achieving greater peace of mind, enhanced creativity and joy, and improved capacities in relationships, both at home and at work.
At The Balint Consultancy, we will provide an initial consultation to discuss your needs and your wishes and, to offer an informed recommendation about the best type of psychotherapy for your personality and for your situation.
One-to-one psychotherapy can last a very short time or a very long time, depending upon one’s needs and wishes and, upon one’s willingness and motivation for this sort of work. The nature and the length, and all related matters will be discussed in the initial consultation or consultations.
